The changing nature of work: 1900-2100

In 1999, to mark its centenary the following year, NOP Business was commissioned by City and Guilds of London Institute to carry out research into: the skills the British people needed a hundred years ago in order to carry out their work; how these have changed over the past 100 years; and how these are likely to change over the next 100 years. The findings of this study are presented in this report and includes a discussion of the role of education and questions whether the current educational approaches will adequately prepare the young people for the work that awaits them. Also included are appendices giving details of the sources and individuals consulted and background statistics.
