Australia in the emerging global knowledge economy: changing employment patterns - 1986-7 to 1999-00

This working paper reports on the progress of the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Centre for the Economics of Education and Training (CEET) into changing employment patterns in Australia in the era of the emerging global knowledge economy. Preliminary findings indicate that employment patterns in Australia have changed substantially over the period, some of which are encouraging and some worrying. It is suggested that the implications of some of these trends for educators and trainers, especially those in the VET sector, will take time to tease out, and will require further research.
