The handbook provides information for those interested in careers in the [information technology] IT sector. Chapter 1 is an overview of the numerous occupations and spheres of work. Chapter 2 is dedicated to IT training at universities, post-secondary technical colleges and colleges of advanced vocational study. Chapter 3 explains training programs in the four new regulated IT occupations in the dual system of vocational training in Germany. Chapter 4 describes school-based training programs at full-time vocational schools. Chapter 5 presents different continuing vocational training and specialisation alternatives directed in particular at university dropouts, those changing fields and self-educated individuals. The service section contains a glossary and a list of addresses of training providers, chambers of industry and commerce, job information centres and relevant institutions and organisations.
