This paper reports on the author's research in progress into equity in vocational education and training. Stage one of the research looked at graduates' full time earnings, suggesting a number of factors contribute to inequitable outcomes in full time earnings for female TAFE graduates. Stage two of the research will focus on factors predisposing females to select from a narrow range of field study options. The choice of this narrow range of study options streams students into occupations that are poorly paid. The paper briefly touches on how equity should be understood and offers some priorities for future research.
