In this article, the authors look at education in the 21st century and question whether in becoming proponents of workforce development, community colleges have lost the perspective of academic institutions of higher learning. They conclude that it is possible for community colleges to shift towards workforce development without compromising the traditional community college mission and discuss how this can be done.
