Learning in and for the workplace has grown in importance in Australia. There have been legislation changes directed towards upskilling of the workforce, the revision of vocational education systems and the vocationalisation of the school curriculum. However, the author argues that in spite of the increased attention to learning within the workplace, the impact of these trends on the role of those who have been responsible for workplace learning and this area as a field of professional practice have not been fully examined.
