This paper reports on research being conducted as part of the RCVET’s [Research Centre for Vocational Education and Training] national key centre program supported by the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA). It focuses on the issue of school-to-work transition and seeks to add to the current discussion by examining the activities of a group of young people who see themselves as successfully preparing for entry into the labour market. As such, it is concerned with telling stories about the types of actions they perceive to be useful and the types of learning they see themselves engaging in during this time of transition in their lives.
