Learning relationships at work: a Singapore concept of mentoring

A mentoring program for the preparation of future principals has been ongoing for more than ten years in Singapore. Many participants of this program have become school principals by now. Research is being conducted to understand aspects of learning engaged in by these principals while on the job. Findings from a pilot study suggest that they form learning relationships with other principals. A review of previous research on mentoring in Singapore shows that learning relationships could also be formed by participants during the mentoring program before they become principals. Learning relationships could then define a Singapore concept of mentoring.
