The Community College Management Audit is a system for assessing the abilities of administrative personnel to perform certain key functions and roles of a manager regardless of the areas of responsibility. The heart of the system is the Management Audit Questionnaire (MAQ), which is a nonthreatening, data-collection instrument that is used to assess all or a part of the college's administrators. This article describes why community colleges, in today's era of accountability, need this system; how it was developed; its five process steps for implementation; and its expected benefits.
