Extension training has received increasing attention under recognised agricultural extension systems. Radical reforms have been made to expand quantity, as well as quality of training. Benefits of new communication media must be reaped to further enhance the value of training. However, fitting media into training systems calls for a multidisciplinary approach, combining concepts and practices of instructional technology, media production, hardware etc. Experiences in the Third World countries indicated several gaps in creating media-based training systems, viz., enormous initial cost, lack of hardware facilities, personnel and ultilisation, as well as an evaluation strategy. Such systems must be supported by scientific evaluation at all stages of design, development and utilisation.
