Leveling the playing field for planning university-based distance education

The theme of this issue is 'What really matters in adult education program planning: lessons in negotiating power and interests'. Selected chapters are indexed from TD/TNC 64.150 to TD/TNC 64.153. The central issue faced by those who plan distance education in a university setting is the faculty's perception that this form of education is inferior. This case study examines negotiation strategies planners have used to level the playing field in developing distance education programs. The author analyses the social dynamics of negotiating curriculum development for an independent study distance education program.
