Negotiating between competing interests in planning continuing medical education

The theme of this issue is 'What really matters in adult education program planning: lessons in negotiating power and interests'. Selected chapters are indexed from TD/TNC 64.150 to TD/TNC 64.153. Program planners must realise that medical schools see continuing education as fulfilling many institutional needs, such as generating patient referrals to the university hospital. This chapter examines the political and ethical dilemmas faced by planners who must address multiple competing interests in developing continuing education programs.
