Attempts to vocationalise secondary education in India have had limited success due to a lack of students taking up vocational courses. A review of vocational courses indicated that vocational courses tended to be rigid in nature and without any convergences and linkages with other streams. The author of this article argues that recent developments in information and communication technologies have the potential to benefit vocational education. There is a need to restructure the education and training sector to take advantage of these benefits.
