Vocational agricultural education in India, which has a largely agrarian society, was started with an aim to prepare educated farmers and farm scientists. This article discusses the reasons for low participation of women and girls in vocational education in general and in agricultural education in particular. The author suggests a number of strategies for addressing these problems.
