Cooperation between vocational education and training and working life is one of the major issues in European vocational education and training. This conference has contributed to the discussion of this issue and although participants represented a variety of educational cultures, many similarities emerged upon which common goals could be based. This concluding section summarises the primary themes in the European on-the-job learning discussion. These themes include the differences between educational systems, on-the-job learning, the learning environment and quality of vocational education, the Leonardo da Vinci program, and the EUROPASS Training. These themes all contribute to the promotion of cooperation between vocational education and training and working life.
