This learning pack was developed in the United Kingdom (UK) for people with learning difficulties and the staff who work with them in education, social services, health trusts and voluntary organisations. It includes an audio-tape version of the pack and an A3 colour poster of the Charter for Learning. The Charter for Learning and the Our Right to Learn pack are based on the responses to a request by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) for people with learning difficulties from a variety of organisations to indicate what they thought was important about learning and being students. The Charter for Learning has twelve charter points that include points on bullying, good teaching, enjoying learning, and learning support. Each of the charter points is discussed in the pack and examples of good practice of education provision for students with learning difficulties are also described. At the end of each chapter there are questions for staff and students to think about and a word bank clarifies words that may be hard to understand. Also included is an action plan for staff and students who are working together to change things and a list of questions for managers.
