Evaluation of the NSW AVTS Professional Development Program: evaluation of 1995 program: March 1996 report

This report is the first of two reports on the evaluation of the New South Wales (NSW) Australian Vocational Training System (AVTS) Professional Development 1995 Program. The program is part of a national strategy to facilitate the introduction of the AVTS through the development of the skills and knowledge that trainers from industry and training institutions will need to implement the AVTS. The evaluation was undertaken by David Rumsey and Associates for the NSW Board of Vocational Education and Training (BVET) and surveyed participants and project managers involved in the 1995 projects of the program. The evaluation sought to assess the value and impact of the program and to gather feedback on how the professional development projects could be improved for future participants. This report provides an overall evaluation of the 19 projects making up the 1995 program along with five case studies presenting detailed analysis of project achievements, impact and issues. It includes a brief overview of the aims and structure of the 1995 program, a summary of the methodology used in the evaluation, a description of the findings of the evaluation (not including the three case studies to be published in the second report), and the overall conclusions and recommendations of the evaluation. Appendices contain further information about the projects, the case studies, participants, consultation and data collection.
