Report to the Local Government Industry Training Advisory Board (Northern Territory) on the trial of the implementation package for assessing RPL for courses in Local Government Administration

This report provides an evaluation of the implementation package and process of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), as it applies to three in Local Government Administration and to the local government industry in the Northern Territory (NT). RPL is a process which acknowledges and values the skills, knowledge and experience that a person has already gained from life, work, community involvement, home and formal training and study. It enables a person to gain credit for what they have already learnt from these experiences by matching prior knowledge and skills against the learning outcomes in a course of study. Developed primarily by the local government industry for assessing RPL for its employees, this RPL package and the process are inextricably linked. This report discusses the RPL process, the package and some of the outcomes of the trial.
