This short paper is based upon some classroom observations of adult Pacific Islands learners by tutors at the Pacific Training Institute, Wellington, New Zealand. From observation and discussion amongst the tutors, the comparison of generally accepted adult learning characteristics to those demonstrated by Pacific Islands and other learners indicates little divergence. Cultural and environmental factors are found to be more significant than any notion of specific Pacific Islands learning characteristics.
