This paper reports on a study of the effects of different modes of delivery. It bases its findings on an analysis of student outcomes from the national vocational education and training (VET) collection in six different discipline groupings and student responses to a questionnaire survey by 769 students from Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutes in four states. It concludes that it is difficult to determine a direct relationship between modes of delivery and student outcomes. Also reported are students’ evaluations of the effectiveness of the methods they have experienced and the problems they have encountered.
