Analysing training needs: part two

Nearly thirty years ago the Australian Institute of Training and Development (AITD) Training Needs Analysis and Evaluation group prepared a paper to help practitioners address this critical process. This document remains relevant, and the guidelines provide a sound base for adaptation. The entire document is republished in this and further issues of Training and Development in Australia during 1999. The model presented is a representation of a six-step process of identifying training needs. Step three discusses whether problems can be resolved by training and step four examines occupational and individual needs.
