Vocational training in Germany and England

This brief article provides a summary of the key outcomes of a recent visit, by the author, to Germany and England. The purpose of the visit was to review vocational education and training arrangements in the two countries and to identify any lessons for the Australian vocational education and training system. The article provides a brief summary and analysis of the two systems and identifies linkages with the Australian vocational education and training system. It covers issues of industry involvement, balancing vocational training and general education, training, learning and assessment arrangements, as well as issues concerning quality assurance.
