Analysing training needs: part one

Nearly thirty years ago the Australian Insititute of Training and Development (AITD) Training Needs Analysis and Evaluation group prepared a paper to help practitioners address this critical process. This document remains relevant, and the guidelines provide a sound base for adaptation. The entire document is republished in this and further issues of Training and Development in Australia during 1999. The model presented is a representation of a six-step process of identifying training needs. Step one focuses on redongintion that a problem exists, Step two examines identification of the real problem and its cause.
