The National Assessors and Workplace Trainers Body (NAWTB) has developed this guide to assist in the implementation of the training package. This guide should be read in conjunction with the Training Package for Assessment and Workplace Training. The aim of this guide is to help Registrated Training Organisations (RTOs), workplaces and individuals to identify their training needs and assessment needs, to assist in the development of training and assessment systems, as well as providing and maintaining quality training and assessment programs. Section 1 provides an introduction to the Training Package for Assessment and Workplace Training. Section 2 outlines what is in the Training Package, the Guidelines, Qualifications Framework and Competency Standards. Section 3 discusses training and learning. Section 4 covers assessment and the pathways available for individuals wishing to gain a formal qualification. Section 5 provides information on RTOs. Section 6 identifies some issues on quality and how workplaces and RTOs can maintain quality trainers, assessors, systems and procedures. Section 7 covers some of the issues in assessment such as workplace application, new skills required and equivalence of qualification. Section 8 contains a glossary of terms and references for further reading.
