Disability and employment in Australia: some positives and negatives

This report focuses on employment aspects of the career development of the two million people in Australia (aged 15-64 years) defined as having a disability. Only around 973 300 of this group are employed. Analysis of data revealed that disability restrictions affected labour force participation but not the pattern of occupational or industrial employment. Tables for determining the worklife expectancy of people with and without disability are provided, and the role of disabilities in a person's career development is highlighted through this analysis.
