The youth labour market in Australia is characterised by a low participation rate and a predominance of part-time employment, as well as high unemployment and underemployment. This survey examines both the demand and supply characteristics of this market, looking at factors that influence school and work participation including high postcompulsory education retention rates, apprenticeships and youth wages.
