Creating a sense of place: Indigenous peoples in vocational education and training

The rationale for the project reported in this publication was to document the extent to which progress has been made in implementing the goals of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Policy (AEP) as they relate to vocational education and training (VET). The decade since the AEP was first endorsed was examined in order to determine what changes in Indigenous VET participation and outcomes have been achieved. As well, the study aimed to ascertain the extent to which TAFE institutes have created an environment which is supportive of the needs of Indigenous peoples and which can provide the best possible context for their effective vocational learning.
