Vocational Education Coordinators Online (VECO) is an online communication system developed by the Australian Student Traineeship Foundation (ASTF) in partnership with Aussie SchoolHouse. The system, begun in 1997, consists of a set of Internet tools including an email discussion list, a website and associated training and projects. The system is designed to assist program coordinators, teachers, employers, workplace supervisors, careers advisors and other people involved in Structured Workplace Learning programs linked with secondary schools. This booklet describes the results of a survey of subscribers to the email list and case studies constructed to document the use and effect of VECO. The research aimed to assess the impact of VECO on improving practice and quality in school-industry programs and its role in the broader vocational education and training (VET) arena. It also aimed to recommend future directions for VECO.
