Report to the Telecommunications ITAB and InfoComp: analysis of telecommunications course effectiveness

This report for the Telecommunications Industry Training Advisory Board (ITAB) focuses on TAFE courses in the field of electronic, computer, communications engineering/technologies. The key objectives of the analysis aimed to assess the effectiveness of current courses and to develop a broader information base relating to vocational education and training courses for forward planning by the ITAB. Overall, courses performed well on two critical indicators, TAFE graduate employment outcomes and graduates' opinions on the relevance of their course to their job. They did not perform well in terms of graduates' opinions of overall course quality and specific course features. These findings suggest that attention is needed to overall course quality and the specific provider issues of content and presentation, as well as improved information provision.
