In this article the author outlines the educational philosophy of the Danish priest, writer and politician, Nikolai Grundtvig, and shows how his ideas inspired the creation of the Scandinavian folk high school. Today, 150 years later, the schools continue to operate according to Grundtvig's adult educational principles.
