This short article provides a brief overview of the reform process begun in the 1980s by the Federal Government to create a new vocational education and training (VET) system. It describes the key elements of the Training Reform Agenda aimed at the delivery of a flexible, nationally consistent training system attuned to client needs, based on competency based training (CBT) and the establishment of national competency standards.
