Research and development: beyond the bottom line

This keynote paper was presented at the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) 1998 conference: Industry training outlook '98, held in Sydney, from 12-13 October 1998. In this paper, a review of recent vocational education and training (VET) research and literature is given and it is suggested that too little of the recent VET research is relevant, strategic, digestible and timely for the needs of business and industry.
