Recognising IT skills

The Australian Computer Society (ACS) is the recognised association for IT professionals and has just completed a restructure to make the society more relevant to people in the industry. Using the newly developed Australian Core Body of Knowledge, as defined by the ACS, as a measuring stick, there will be a Professional Division of Fellows and Members, and tightened entry requirements for professional membership. Entry to the Associate grade has been broadened. A brief outline of entry requirements for membership grades, recent changes, and discussion of frameworks for assessment of skills and knowledge are given. A system of course accreditation and refereed experience is used. The complete proceedings of this conference in one volume may be found at TD/TNC 53.04.
