In 1997 there were over 30,000 foreign students studying in Australia in vocational studies in TAFE and private colleges. This paper discusses the need for promotion abroad of vocational education and training (VET) in TAFE and private colleges. IDP Education Australia plays a pivotal role in Australia's international education efforts and has strong links with TAFE and private VET institutions, and is improving its capability to work with VET institutions in 1998.
