VET market

Reforms by the Commonwealth Government to vocational education and training (VET) in Australia, and how they contribute to developing an effective and responsive training market, are examined in this keynote address which was presented at the conference organised by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) entitled 'The market for vocational education and training: who pays, who profits?' held in Adelaide, Australia, 28-30 July 1997. The importance of a quality, national training system (built into all industries) is affirmed. The training market, a central feature of policy, is discussed. This work is the most comprehensive collection of papers yet compiled about vocational education and training (VET) markets in Australia. The papers were all presented at a major national conference ‘The Market for Vocational Education and Training: Who Pays and Who Profits?’ held in Adelaide, South Australia, 28-30 July 1997 and organised by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER). This volume is a key information resource for all who are interested in the impact of market developments in VET.
