This document is the executive summary of the detailed report of the follow-up study ANOP Research Services Pty Ltd was commissioned by the then Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET) to conduct into young people's attitudes to post-compulsory education and training options under the Higher Education Division's Evaluations and Investigations Program (EIP). The main objectives of this follow-up study were to monitor secondary school students' attitudes to post-secondary education and training options, to identify changes which have occurred since the 1992 study, and to investigate reasons for such changes. Four main areas were investigated: post-compulsory education and training aspirations; commitment to current plans; knowledge of post-secondary education and training options, and sources of information; and image of, and attitudes to, university and TAFE. This 1994 follow-up study had a wider geographic coverage than the 1992 study in order to explore the differences between the major states in higher education application trends. The detailed report may be found at TD/TNC 56.05.
