In 1994, ANOP Research Services Pty Ltd was commissioned by the then Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET) to conduct a follow-up study of the 1992 study into young people's attitudes to post-compulsory education and training options under the Higher Education Division's Evaluations and Investigations Program (EIP). The main objectives of this follow-up study were to monitor secondary school students' attitudes to post-secondary education and training options, to identify changes which have occurred since the 1992 study, and to investigate reasons for such changes. Four main areas were investigated: post-compulsory education and training aspirations; commitment to current plans; knowledge of post-secondary education and training options, and sources of information; and image of, and attitudes to, university and TAFE. This 1994 follow-up study had a wider geographic coverage than the 1992 study in order to explore the differences between the major states in higher education application trends. The executive summary of this report may be found at TD/TNC 56.06.
