Career development through assessment and recognition in community based workplaces

This is the final report of a project that grew out of the work of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) in looking at social housing and the development of national industry competency standards for social housing workers in both the public and community sectors. The main issue has been a concern to develop a meaningful framework for skills development and recognition and a need to address the significant role of volunteers in the industry and in associated industries. The project also intended to develop a model of workplace assessment able to be applied to a range of community owned and managed workplaces incorporating recognition of prior learning (RPL) as a subset of assessment.
