A large number of schools in Western Australia (WA) are already committed to career education. This paper reports on a project undertaken to develop curriculum and resources for lower secondary students to support their access to vocational education and training (VET) in years 11 and 12. A key intended outcome is the provision of access for students in remote locations. The project has undertaken a mapping exercise to identify the range of programs and activities in years 9 and 10 currently operating in WA schools, as well as to identify years 9 and 10 career education initiatives in schools in other states. The project also intends to examine career education resources relevant for years 9 and 10 against both teacher and industry perspectives.
