Promoting community partnerships: full service schools

The Commonwealth Government's Full Service Schools Program is partly a response to significant changes embraced in the new Youth Allowance. To be eligible this requires young people under 18 years old, and who have not completed Year 12 or an equivalent to be in full-time education or training unless they are specifically exempted. The program aims to assist schools in the development of appropriate programs and services that will assist the estimated 28,000 young people likely to be affected by the changes, a substantial proportion of whom could be back in the school system.
