Education and training in Australia

In this paper it is suggested that education and training in Australia has been separated and largely defined by state boundaries, separate education and training authorities, and separate upper secondary curriculum and assessment authorities. Now vocational education and training (VET) plans developed through one set of institutions in isolation from the school sector are to be introduced into the school sector. The further challenge is for the school sector to now incorporate elements of a national VET system into the very different senior secondary certificate arrangements that currently exist.
