This paper reports on a national study designed to find out whether businesses benefited from their participation in school vocational programs and, if they did, what those benefits were. Personnel in enterprises of varying size and across a range of industries which provide structured work placements for students were interviewed. While almost every employer was satisfied with the company's involvement, the interviews did suggest that there are some disturbing implications for the long term viability of the programs. A list of websites relevant to vocational education and training (VET) in schools is given.
