In this article, the author looks at the concept of a training culture as it applies to small business. The relevance of current formal vocational education and training (VET) systems is examined, the training and learning needs of small business analysed and programs and initiatives directed particularly at small business are described. Finally, future pathways to the development of a training culture in small business are discussed.
