The Australian Education Union (AEU) is, in this document, presenting a submission to the Ministerial Review of the Provision of Technical and Further Education in the Melbourne Metropolitan Area. The submission addresses the targeted 'critical issues' nominated by the Review Committee but also moves beyond the original focus, exploring the issue of the place played by teachers in future reforms to TAFE. The recommendations set out in this paper draw upon the views of, and information gleaned from, a broad range of AEU members presently in teaching and administrative roles in TAFE institutes.
