Putting competencies to work for managerial effectiveness

The author contends that the current and future success of an organisation is a reflection of the effectiveness of the senior management team, their vision, their leadership and the combined knowledge and skills of the organisation's workforce. The most common problems confronting organisations trying to introduce competency programs include difficulty in identifying competencies, not allowing sufficient time for the project, and resistance by staff. Another common problem is a lack of time management support and commitment.
