Asssessment of experiential learning in England and France

Based on a search of the literatures of the respective countries, this paper reviews the current situation in England and France with regard to the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) and Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL), systems which have both developed from North American models. The systems are considered in general terms as well as in regard to vocational qualifications and entrance to further education.
