Economic analysis of employment based entry level training: an analysis of trends in apprenticeship training

Contrary to the perception that the apprenticeship system is in decline, there has been a reasonably constant relationship between the number of apprentices in training and the number of tradespersons employed across all trades over the past decade. Thus apprenticeships are still a valuable form of training. Furthermore, there is no evidence to suggest that wages for apprentices are too high, relative to wages for tradespersons.
