The primary purpose of this paper is to provide training divisions and institutes in the NSW TAFE Commission with a clear statement of the issues involved in integrating language, literacy, and numeracy provision into vocational education and training. The paper addresses: issues affecting current language, literacy, and numeracy provision in relation to VET; the main theoretical and practical arguments supporting the integration of that provision into VET; principles which inform integrated program provision; and a range of integration strategies and examples of their application, with particular reference to NSW TAFE program provision.
