Competency-based training: an analysis of its strengths and weaknesses by NSW vocational teachers

Reported in this article are the findings from a survey of a group of New South Wales TAFE vocational teachers of their experiences with competency-base training. Results indicate that there is a variety of problems, involving perceived pressures to pass students, provision of resources, use of modularisation and assessment and standards.
