This article describes the Australian Training Awards for 1996, which will be announced in November. Acknowledged will be excellence in terms of Department of Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs (DEETYA) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Trainee of the Year; Apprentice of the Year; Trainee of the Year; Vocational Student of the Year; Small Business of the Year; Employer of the Year (from 18 industry categories); and - a new category - Training Provider of the Year.
